Athletics are Back in '21

The athletic calendar this past year has been disrupted to say the least. A few teams are done for the season, most shortened, and some delayed. As some seasons began to get the green light, the marketing team took three days to get some hype content for each team. Known as "Hype Dayz" in the office, these shoots are modeled after Division I schools and pro teams that have media days to create content for use throughout the year. As a D3 school, it's fun to feel like a D1 athlete.

Inspired by high production shoots, the photo and video teams in marketing set out to treat the student-athletes like stars. Student-athletes on every team are given the chance to represent their school and sport. Even in the midst of a global pandemic our teams were (safely) brought together to be represented and celebrated. These are just some results of our Hype Dayz '21.

Every Hype Dayz we've done has been different. We can't wait to see what's in store for next year.

Chris Low has been the photographer in the Office of Marketing Communications since April 2018. As husband to a nurse and dad to a 7-year-old redhead, he likes to build with LEGOs, get tattooed, and drink tons of coffee. Sometimes, when in better shape, he likes to run long distance races in the forest.

On April 8, 2022, I made the difficult but much-needed decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal and leave the university I was attending, Utah Valley University. I made the decision for a number of reasons, but the primary reason was I wanted to be at a place where I could feel more comfortable being myself.

My RA Experience

Last year, I held a lot of apprehension about becoming an RA for the 2022-23 academic year. All summer long, anxiety ate at my stomach. Would I make a good RA? Would I get along well with the rest of my RA staff? Did the hiring team make a mistake? Was this really where I was supposed to be? You get the picture 鈥� my fears knew no limits. But all of that faded away once I met my RA team and my residents.
